DOMiD – the Documentation Centre and Museum of Migration in Germany – collects, preserves and researches material on the history of migration in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. Its aim is to show migration as a normal part of society.

At a glance

The memory of a migration society

The collection, unique in Germany, ranges from everyday objects and work clothing to a Ford Transit that symbolises the era of the so-called guest workers. It covers migration into both West and East Germany in all its forms.

Visitor note

DOMiD is primarily an archive and documentation centre; the collection is open to researchers by appointment. It also offers tours, events and educational programmes. A permanent exhibition venue is planned only with the future museum.
