2. Hosting & server logs

This website is hosted on a server (Hetzner, Germany). When pages are accessed, the server temporarily processes technical data (IP address, date/time, requested URL, user agent) to deliver the site and ensure security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest). Logs are kept only briefly.

3. Comments

If you post a comment, we store your name, the comment text, the time and a one-way hash of your IP address (not the plain IP). To prevent spam and abuse, the comment text is sent to Anthropic (Claude API) for automatic moderation. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The “Translate” function sends the comment text to Anthropic to generate a translation, which is cached. Anthropic may process data on servers outside the EU.

4. Comment notifications (email)

If you opt in to notifications, we store your email address and send a confirmation email (double opt-in). Emails are delivered via Resend. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), revocable at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.

5. Maps

Detail pages embed an interactive map. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation) and the Leaflet library from a CDN (unpkg/Cloudflare). When the map loads, your IP address is transmitted to these providers. The map is only loaded on pages that show one.

6. News & external links

News headlines are fetched server-side; no personal data of yours is transmitted to the news provider in the process. Links lead to external sites for whose content and privacy practices the respective operators are responsible.

7. Reach measurement

We count page views per entry in aggregate to offer a “by popularity” sort order. This is cookieless and stores no personal data; a one-way hash of the IP address is used only to avoid double-counting within an hour. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a useful sort order).

8. Your rights
