The St. Anna House on Herderstraße in Cologne-Lindenthal is a former hospital, founded in 1888 by the order of the Cologne Cellite sisters. It owes its existence to a bequest from the Lindenthal widow Anna Jansen.

At a glance

From hospital to seniors' home

Dedicated to Saint Anne, the house initially served as a hospital and home for children of the district's poorer families, run by nuns. It later became a regular hospital, operating until 1979. After renovation and conversion, the historic buildings became the St. Anna seniors' home.

Note

The St. Anna House is a social-care institution, not a public visitor site. We include the entry for its significance in the city's social history.
